
![]() Avant Garden Avant Garden is a non-certified, organic small farm out of Cullowhee, NC. Curt Collins and John Thompson run the garden, selling their produce at a seasonal stand on Monteith Gap Road in Cullowhee. Curt began the garden four years ago using primitive gardening methods to ensure a product that is as natural as possible. Avant Garden has produced over 100 different crops, supplying fresh, organic produce to Cullowhee/ Sylva residents and businesses, including Guadalupe Cafe. local food. Owner John Bubacz orders the beans for in-house roasted coffee directly from farmers in Central and South
America, in keeping with fair-trade business practices. You can get a cup of Bubacz's house-blend at Guadalupe,
or make a trip to the Underground, right next door and down the stairs, for an after-dinner espresso or smoothie.
Dark Cove Farm Dark Cove, run by Jackie Palmer and David Smith, is a local Jackson County farm which provides Guadalupe with organic free-range
goat meat and award-winning goat cheese. The 95 acre farm borders the Roy Taylor National Forest in the Caney Fork community of Cullowhee.
Jackie and David run Dark Cove independently, supporting the farm with additional cottage-industries, including the sale of pottery and honey.Heinzelmannchen Brewery Heinzelmannchen is an award-winning Sylva brewery, located just behind the cafe, on Mill Street. The brewery opened in 2004 and is run by certified brewmeister
Dieter Kuhn and his wife Sheryl Rudd. The brewery makes German-style ales like those of Heidelsheim, Germany, where Dieter was born and raised.
You'll find Heinzelmannchen beers on draft at the cafe.Vegenui Gardens Vegnui Gardens is a community-supported 3/4 acre organic farm located in the Cope Creek community of Sylva. Vegnui, run by Ron and Cathy Arps, supplies the bulk of Guadalupe's produce, as well as the flowers that decorate the cafe during the spring and summer. ![]() Austen Mikulka A native of Douglas, Georgia, Austen is a photographer, muralist, painter, illustrator and graphic designer. Since moving
to Sylva in 2001, one of Austen's projects has been painting the windows of downtown Sylva businesses, including
