farms, local food & farm resources

the mountains of Western North Carolina have a long, rich agricultural & crafting history, and many of us who call WNC home cherish the agrarian quality of the landscape and the ancient mishmash blend of wild with cultivated.

"farm to table", to us, means that we at Guadalupe buy every ingredient we can from local small-scale independent farms & craftspeople.

We choose only local, pasture-raised: eggs, chicken, goat & beef.  We also source local pastured pork (as much as we can), much of our produce (when in season!), all artisan cheeses & some dairy, all honey, cornmeal & grits, jams&jellies, eggs... coffee, many herbs, beer, kombucha, breads, fruit and so on... We're so lucky to live in an area that can provide so much, and thankful for the existence of these awesome family farms & businesses.

With every purchase we seek suppliers & goods that are sustainable, organic, fair-trade: sustainably sourced seafood, including US wild-caught white Gulf shrimp.  Organic grains & oils. Fair-trade sugars, chocolate, cocoas & spices.  Compostable to-go wares. 100% recycled paper products. Earth-friendly bio-degradable cleaners.

Below you will find links to many farms and artisan food businesses that supply Guadalupe, along with a link to our awesome local farmers market (located a block behind us on Railroad avenue with markets on wednesday afternoons & saturday mornings) & another to ASAP/Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, a regional farming organization that serves as a directory & resource to local farms, producers & consumers. We are always on the lookout to meet more farmers & purchase more local goods, so please get in touch (form below) if you are a farmer/farm/local maker and would like to partner with us!
